What Is the North Carolina Seafood Festival All About?
Community members who live along the North Carolina coastline know just how important—and delicious—seafood in this area truly is. The North Carolina Seafood Festival is celebrating its 38th year, and since 1987, this non-profit organization has been working hard to highlight and support the local seafood industry.
The festival offers plenty of events for the whole family, while also educating on the importance of seafood to the state economy and the culture and community of North Carolina. It helps to boost tourism outside of the summer months, and raises money for scholarships to support students interested in entering the seafood industry. Since its inception, over two million dollars have been shared between local non-profit organizations thanks to the Seafood Festival.
What Activities Will Be at the Festival?
There’s a full helping of fun at the festival, including games and rides for the kids all three days, plus a backdrop of live music from Friday evening until Sunday afternoon. At the Cooking Stage, renowned chefs will be preparing classic and innovative seafood dishes, and Saturday morning kicks off with the Twin Bridges 8K race. Of course, the most important feature of the festival is the food, and attendees will have plenty of opportunities to try out all the best seafood bites from local restaurants and chefs.
