Picking the right RAM HD trucks for your work fleet means knowing how they compare to light-duty models. A heavy-duty truck boosts power and performance over lighter vehicles while also strengthening its build with additional work-ready features. At Mike Toler Chrysler Dodge Jeep® RAM, you can compare light-duty vs. heavy-duty trucks and see what works best for your company.

Engine Power

All RAM trucks are built with power in mind, but a heavy-duty truck will give you more out of the gate. While the light-duty RAM 1500 features a standard 3.6-liter V6 engine rated at 305 horsepower, The heavy-duty RAM 2500 and RAM 3500 deliver 410 horsepower with their standard 6.4-liter HEMI® V8 engine. Turbodiesel engines are also available, with a maximum of 420 horsepower and 1,075 lb-ft of torque.

Towing Capacity

Another differentiator between light-duty and heavy-duty trucks is how much they can tow. Our HD trucks feature higher axle weights, GVWR, and GCWR, plus more robust frames than you’ll find in light-duty trucks. So while the 2024 RAM 1500 can tow up to 12,750 lbs – ample power for average drivers – companies needing more towing capacity will find it on the RAM 2500 (19,990 lbs) and especially the RAM 3500 (37,090 lbs).

Work-Ready Features

Your RAM HD trucks can have plenty of features that make your job easier. The available telescopic trailer tow mirrors help your employees get a better view of their trailer. With the available Digital Rearview Mirror, you’ll always get a crisp view of your surroundings.
